Our group of Military Collector friends in the area have always talked about hosting a 1942-style Hangar Dance. With Mike & Pam's wedding, we finally had a good reason.

In a matter of days, Don & Jackie's pole barn was transformed into the
Wicklund Army Airfield.

Decor included camo netting, parachutes, a paratrooper manakin and many
military collectibles including a 1942 calendar on the wall.

Of course there was a place for signing the guest book and a field kitchen
utensil container as a card holder.

The look was made complete with twinkle lights and a disco ball. That is
my buddy Al looking quite dapper in his Hawaiian flamingo shirt.

Pam & Mike hired a Big Band and some Swing dancers. Both were a big
hit. The dancers gave swing lessons and encouraged guests to get out and
dance.
And when the band took a break they entertained the crowd with some high
energy dance routines.

For the bar, what else but an old DUKW!
Complete with a barrail, ramp and canopy, it was stocked well and also a
big hit. Yes, that is me in the white Tee shirt. I opened it and closed
it.
